Pre-K

Reading: We start with both upper and lowercase letters. They begin tracing letters and progress to paper and pencils. During the year they will practice writing their names as well as individual letters. Starting in September each week the children will practice recognition and writing letters on paper to go in their alphabet book.

Math: During the year students will practice writing, recognizing and understanding the numbers 1-20. Each day during circle time the children work at the calendar to build patterning and sequencing skills as well as reinforcing counting to 30. Children are given the opportunity to learn through many mediums such as painting gluing, collages and other arts forms. The projects are new to them and more complex than presented the previous year.

Communication: Parents and student attend an orientation with the teacher. They will see the class room and the child will get their first home work assignment. Each month a calendar will be sent home that will show what we will be doing for the month.
